We’re all aware that the fight against avian influenza isn’t over.
Seabird infections along our coasts suggest we could be about to face a repeat of last year’s autumn surge in avian influenza (AI) cases. Last year had an unusual October peak, the worst for avian influenza infections across the UK.
Typically, infections of avian influenza peak in December and January due to migratory wildfowl. Last year’s early peak was due to the year-round presence of avian influenza in resident seabird colonies, with young gulls moving inland in autumn. This summer’s seabird infection levels indicate a likely repeat of last year’s autumn pattern and severity.
Livetec recognises the shared concerns of both backyard keepers and commercial farmers regarding the future. Earlier this year, we introduced our revised National Outbreak Plan for purchase, and in our commitment to making this valuable resource accessible to a wider audience, we offered it for free, ensuring that as many poultry owners as possible could benefit from it.
Supporting poultry owners now and in the future
Upon this release we got feedback from our clients, which told us that poultry owners wanted a digital version of the National Outbreak Plan – and that’s what we have delivered.
The National Outbreak Plan is now available digitally, for free* on the Livetec Systems App.
The future of poultry protection is digital. Having critical information to hand and easy to access in the event of an outbreak helps protect livestock and livelihoods.
Digitalisation saves time and money and does away with inefficient paper-based methods of record keeping. All information is stored securely in one place and is instantly accessible. This means you can act immediately should the worst happen.
