Livetec’s Peter Kettlewell receives a major honour
We are delighted to announce that Peter Kettlewell has been appointed as an Emeritus Fellow at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC).
Peter was highly respected by staff and students during his tenure at SRUC and has been awarded this title in recognition of his outstanding career in applied agricultural research.
Professor Wayne Powell, Principal and Chief Executive of SRUC, said in recognition of the awards that: “I would also like to offer Peter my congratulations on being named as an Emeritus Fellow. He was a dedicated lecturer who always went above and beyond the requirements of the job and was highly respected by staff and students alike.”
The appointment also recognises the significant number of industry and professional awards he has received over the years for his service to the agriculture sector in relation to the welfare of animals.
Peter’s longstanding contribution to the industry
Peter is a recognised authority in the field of livestock transport and his research has supported significant developments and improvements for the welfare of animals during transport.
He has authored and co-authored numerous influential research papers, reports, and documents in collaboration with other scientific and industry experts that have shaped and improved global practices in livestock transport. A respected contributor at conferences, and presenter of scientific research to government departments, universities, and institutions worldwide, Peter is recognised for his achievements at home and internationally.
Driven by his unwavering commitment to animal welfare, Peter has provided scientific advice to the UK Government, which has helped change legislation for the transport of livestock. His research experience encompasses thermal stress in animals through laboratory and full-scale research, employing physical, engineering, physiological and behavioural techniques. Peter’s work has led to significant scientific advancements and a better understanding of the welfare of animals during transportation.
Peter’s career continues at Livetec Systems
Peter’s contribution to animal welfare continues within the Knowledge Hub, Livetec’s Technical and Thought Leadership team. His insights and knowledge have helped to shape the new Livetec Systems App, which has been developed to advance biosecurity and prevent the spread of disease. He has also played a crucial role in developing our Stunner Check Service, ensuring compliance with regulations and efficient equipment operation.
Peter’s outstanding contributions for SRUC have garnered continual recognition and appreciation. Through extensive research, lectures, and educational initiatives, he has inspired, and empowered students pursuing careers in the farming and associated agricultural industries.
