Avian Influenza: A Disease Guide

On 27th October 2021, highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed on a premises in Worcester. Since this case, bird keepers have continued to face the worst-ever avian influenza outbreak ever confirmed on British shores. 

Between the 27th October 2021 and 30th September 2022, the UK saw over 150 cases of the disease on premises across the UK, not including those detected in wild birds.
