The Republic of Ireland (ROI) has confirmed the presence of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 at a commercial poultry premises in County Monaghan, close to the border with County Armagh.
The boundary of the 10km Surveillance Zone initiated by the Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) of the ROI extends into County Armagh.
Consequently, DAERA must take appropriate disease control measures to mitigate for onward disease spread. The CVO for NI has declared the area extending into NI from the ROI which lies within 10km of the infected premises to be a Surveillance Zone, effective from 18:00 on 10 November 2025.
